Academic Career

I am an Assistant Professor in Conservation Biology in the Biology Department at Swarthmore College, USA. My lab will study frogs’ skin microbiome and how environmental variables such as temperature, water quality and pollution affect the microorganisms living on the frogs.

Postdoctoral fellowship with Jon Fong at the Science Unit in Lingnan University, Hong Kong. My project focuses on building a natural history collection of Hong King’s amphibians and reptiles for conservation and education, with a genetic case-study on the endangered tree frog Liuixalus romeri.

Ph.D. I spent six great years at the Leache Lab at the University of Washington.  My dissertation research focuses on the systematics and evolution of the subfamily Hylinae, composed by tree frogs from Middle America.

Master’s degree. Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) under the supervision of Dr. Adrian Nieto Montes de Oca. My Master’s thesis is focused on the molecular phylogeny of the Sarcohyla bisticta group (Anura: Hylidae).

Bachelor degree. I worked at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) under the supervision of Dr. Oscar Flores Villela. For my undergraduate thesis, I worked on a herpetological survey of the municipality of Pluma Hidalgo, Oaxaca.
